Späti Stories: Four Months, 8 Stories, and Many Thanks
Thank you for being part of these Berlin stories. We'd love to hear your thoughts.
Dear Späti Stories readers,
As 2024 draws to a close, we find ourselves reflecting on what this project has meant to us. What started as a simple idea—sharing positive stories about Berlin's diverse community—has grown into something truly special.
In just four months, we've had the privilege of bringing you stories that showcase the incredible spirit of this city:
Burkhart and Joachim, who risked their lives building escape tunnels during the Cold War, showing us the profound meaning of freedom
Katharina and Andrew, who found their calling in Berlin—whether improving tax laws at the Bundestag or keeping English-speaking Berliners informed
Dietmar from Berliner Unterwelten, who works tirelessly to preserve the city's underground history and the memories of the Wall
Charlie, a multi-talented artist who rediscovered her inspiration through Berlin's theater scene, reminding us of art's healing power and the city's endless opportunities
Julian and Yuli, whose lives were transformed through martial arts, proving that movement can change more than just the body
These stories represent just a fraction of the remarkable tales waiting to be told in Berlin. While this is our passion project (yes, we both have full-time jobs!), every interview, every story shared, has been deeply fulfilling.
As we look toward 2025, we'd love to hear from you. What stories resonated most? What would you like to see more of? Please take a moment to share your thoughts in our brief survey:
And remember—if you have a story to share or know someone whose Berlin journey needs to be told, reach out to us at spaetistories@gmail.com. Every Berliner has a story, and we'd love to help tell it.
Wishing you a wonderful start to the new year,
🌠 Isabelle and Lua
